I would walk
arrived safely in london on a drizzly Sunday morning. fortunately, the weather cleared up by afternoon and we managed to do some shopping. had a wonderful plan to put up "before" and "after" pictures of my room on the blog, but i shall spare everyone the horror, because the "before" of my room seems to look much nicer and more colourful than the "after". as shafa mentioned, the new bedsheets make the room look more like a jail cell. Haha. So much for the IKEA bedsheets.
Monday and tuesday were used for shopping and more shopping, and also to register at the university. LSE (the building on the right in the picture) is a 20-30 minute walk from the hall, and the walk takes us across blackfriars bridge and along the embankment along the River Thames. When you walk along the embankment on a sunny day, i'm always tempted to go jogging along the embankment like i used to do at Marina Bay back in Singapore. That will have to wait till huifang's track pants and shoes finally arrive after being lost in limbo somewhere along the DHL air route.
This week has been so starkly different from the last.
Things i've been missing over here include long runs, late suppers, the company at work, trainings, ice creams and pratas with the thomson gang, long quiet walks through the neighbourhood in the middle of the night, and speaking Singlish without feeling weird. However, the week has also been interesting and enriching. New sights and sounds, new friends, a new way of living. Would love to capture the all wonderful sights on camera but quite paiseh to be too touristy. Haha. Anyway soccer fans ought to be jealous because we watch the epl and champions league here at night instead of in the early morning in Singapore.
Emailing everyone at night has been quite enjoyable. Because of the time difference, i will always receive the replies when I wake up the next morning. That serves as a wonderful incentive to get out of bed.
