i long for the warmth of the days gone by...
and of lofts and lakeview penthouses
I would walk
left to right: flippy and flappy anyway, laura suggested putting "My Boo" my Alicia Keys and Usher as song of the day! Okay. I recall listening to that song while mugging for A levels. haha all those "good" memories. woke up this morning and my blisters were terribly sore. Had to hobble to the kitchen for breakfast then slowly hobble to school. met my neighbour halfway and she was in a rush to go to school. decided to stop whining and at the same pace with her to school. When i got to school, still had to climb 3 flights of steps. Almost died. Fortunately after a while i got numb to the pain. After class took a long nap in the library. Woke up just before the fire alarm rang so everyone had to evacuate. At first i thought some goondu decided to smoke in the toilet or something, cos yesterday someone threw a lighted cigarette into a bin outside the library and so the bin was "smoking". Turns out some prince came for a visit and they had to clear the library so that he could take a tour. #@!*. Anyhow there were like police all around houghton street and really cool cars parked outside the old building. The police cordoned off an area so the guy could walk into the old building and into the lift safely, but forgot to secure the mezzanine area that overlooked the reception. So technically, it was still possible to pelt eggs at the guy while he was walking in. Anyway, the discovery of the day is that there are no water sprinklers in the library. Because we wouldn't want the books to get wet during false alarms. Anyway some library guy said that when books are packed together, especially the hard cover ones, their fire resistance is pretty high. Fair enough, i would rather risk the books getting burnt to bits rather than have them periodically watered to grow mould. Had netball dinner at a turkish restaurant followed by AU night in the tuns. Lots of drinking and extremely high sportspeople singing karaoke. People sang songs like "My Way" and "I believe I can fly", the netball team sang "Living on a prayer" and one couple (who clearly had a bit too much to drink) sang a love song really really out of tune. Figured i'd give my blistered feet a rest and head back early. Songs of the day: My Boo - Alicia Keys and Usher (Laura's request) Yi Lu Xiang Bei - Jay Chou (still) I would walk
I would walk

let me tell everyone about my 2 new companions cum roomates - flippy and flappy. Two brothers: quite charming chaps. Flippy is the older and taller of the two. Anyway, both flippy and flappy have been quite a menace lately. They both hate slippers and shoes (shoes to a slightly smaller extent) though. Not sure how long they will be bunking in with me. Maybe after stirring up enough trouble they'll decide to slowly go away, hopefully before next week's match so they'll not be a distraction.

played queen mary's. had to travel all the way to zone 2 but it was quite fun. The first 2 quarters were close but after that we started to pull away. during the third quarter my feet were very uncomfortable. thought some sand had gotten into my shoes but turns out i had a huge blister on the ball of each foot. and the blisters had burst. shouldn't have taken my socks off the have a look. The entire fourth quarter i swear i could feel my skin squishing about in my shoes. Need new socks desperately. haha happily took a picture of my terribly blistered feet for sadistic pleasure.
anyway, the 5th netball team made it to the second last page of the beaver! haha. yep, and there's a funny picture included too. Anyhow after the match, in true british fashion, we went pub hunting. found a small local pub near the tube station. Turns out they were having a darts championship so there were sandwiches on the house. how coincidental. ha. didn't know how tipsy i was until i finally decided to get up to take the tube back. drinking on an empty stomach isn't such a good idea. on the way back we also passed this provision shop that was selling a huge jackfruit. had to tell everyone that it was called a jackfruit and that they probably shouldn't try it unless they were extremely adventurous. libby plotted to buy one and bring it to every match to distract our opponents with the smell. Someone else suggested using it in replacement of a carved pumpkin for halloween.

Anyway, i have already used up half of my black ink cartridge. Maybe printing stuff on my own isn't that cheap after all.
Netball tmr against Queen Mary's haha i wonder where that is and i hope it doesn't rain out. No way i'm going to wear shorts for the game tmr man. That would be suicide. Hope all the snacks i just ate will be used as energy to keep warm. I pray very hard that it will :P
alrighty. shall go wash up and sleep. will troop down to the library tomorrow and resist the temptation of bringing my laptop with me. Thinking of the chicken sandwiches at Wright's Bar. yum yum...
Started to miss reading Chinese and how a short sentence of Chinese can mean so much more than an English sentence of the same length. Spent a long time listening to Jay Chou songs and appreciating all the subtle messages...
Anyway, this song has been playing in my head for the past few days. Forgive the traditional chinese, i can't find any in simplified chinese.

was a beautiful sunday because the sun was shining brightly. Went for a long run along the thames and spent a good part of the afternoon reading the newspapers by the window, hoping to get a tan (or rather, a darker tan). cooked lunch and dinner. tried to read my course text for GV100. Philosophers should all try to be more concise in their writing to save the rest of mankind from the torture of reading them. If they wrote less they would have saved more trees and ink, but i guess the whole "save the environment" campaign wasn't in full force back in ancient greece :(
didn't manage to do much studying. argh (x 10000) + all the horrible words you can think of. I shall attempt to make myself totally uncontactable on study days and escape from surveillance by the big brother! okay okay, please ignore my ranting and raving.
having your own room is great. its nice being a hermit. maybe i'll achieve some form of enlightenment while locked up in here. haha.
