liberalism: we should all cooperate and work together for the common good and everyone will be happy. we can hold hands and skip around town and be happy forever more.

neorealism: everyone is a bastard because the world makes us bastards.
"Rousseau-ism": loners are happy people. then if you have a fetish for being spanked no one will bother because no one knows.
democratic peace theory: the nice people in the world should unite and wage war on everyone else who isn't like them.
fantastic. at least i know i won't fail my exams!
one part of me wants to do well. the other part hopes i don't. to do reasonably well is only to convince people that its okay to give you crap and expect you to bail yourself out again and again just because you're nice, and that they hold no responsibility in the end result.
